Gallstones, one of the most common digestive problems, are brought on by the gallbladder forming little stones. When gallstones block a bile duct and become lodged in it, they can cause pancreatitis, cholecystitis (inflammation of the gallbladder), and bile duct infection and inflammation, which can be fatal. Furthermore, if treatment is not received, it may increase the risk of "gallbladder cancer". The gallbladder is a small, pear-shaped, hollow organ located on the right side of the abdomen beneath the liver. In the gallbladder, a yellowish-brown liquid known as "bile" is concentrated and stored. Bile is used in the small intestine to break down and digest fatty meals.
