Epilepsy is a condition marked by convulsive episodes that are followed by brief periods of unconsciousness and temporary memory loss. Ancient Apasmara literature suggests that there are many references to formulations that can be successfully managed in therapy. The three types of apasmara (epilepsy) documented in the majority of ayurvedic treatises variables related to diet, behavior, and other factors. Dosha vitiation, especially of the Vata dosha. Because the Vata dosha regulates how the other doshas work, vitiation in this dosha disturbs the delicate balance that occurs between the doshas. The disruption in the way the mind functions is the result of this. The action is similar to restricting the passage of sensory and motor impulses from sense organs to the mind and back. As a result, there are convulsions and temporary memory loss. It takes time for brain cells to get damaged. The method used by Ayurveda to cure Apasmara is distinctive. The body must first be cleansed, or sadhana, employing techniques like Vamana (emesis), virechana (purgation), Basti (enemas), and shirovirechana (nasal medicines), which is then followed by Shirodhara. This aids in cleansing the body of the vitiated doshas. The body is also more open to subsequent therapies as a result of these processes. For Shamana, several drugs are given orally and by other methods after Shodhana.
